I Was Calm.

As many of you know, Fremont High School was on lockdown Monday, because a student had possession of a gun with intentions to open fire. Luckily, a brave girl spotted his gun and reported it.

Here's what I know:
-The announcement to keep all students in the classroom around 12:20pm seemed suspicious to me.
-It really became suspicious when it was announced about 10 minutes later they said we were in a lockdown situation.
-I was nervous, but I was calm.
-But it was okay, my parents had contacted me and some friends and I were in contact with the each other making sure we were all ok.
-Miraculously, NO shots were fired.
-No one was hurt.
-We were all prepared from a lockdown drill only a couple weeks prior.
-I am blessed to have family and friends who call and text me personally to ask how I was. I love that.
-God was with us.
-The officers, SWAT, and administration handled it flawlessly. It was truly amazing to see how well they all banded together to keep us safe.
-Pat downs don't feel good, but are nessesarry for safety precautions.
-Without the girl who reported a gun she saw, I could've easily lost one or multiple friends. Families could have lost their teens. The outcome would have ENTIRELY different. Because of ONE GIRL. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU!!!

It was no doubt nerve racking experience. And I have thought a lot about it since it has happened. I wasn't in panic mode or worried that something bad would happen because of it. I was calm. More calm than I have ever been actually. I know I was because I prayed for safety that morning to my Heavenly Father, as I'm sure many students did. Not knowing at all that something would happen to that extent that day, but it helps more than we can even know to be close to our Heavenly Father EVERY minute of EVERY day.

~Sometimes we go through things that we don't really understand. It doesn't make sense. Sometimes it's scary. But be calm, God is there. That makes the trial Full of Smiles.~
