So We're Human.
It appears that we are living, breathing people who change everyday. We (hopefully) change our clothes, we change what we eat, we even change how we act, think, and feel on a daily basis. So through all this change, why in the world do mistakes also have to fall in place? Because we're human. We were sent on the earth to be tested, and tested we shall be!
But the most important thing we can do/realize while we are here, is how we will react to those "tests" and mistakes. So we stumble. So we trip. So we limp our way through mistakes we've made. So my friends, so we're human.
Not Alone.
However, we're not alone as we stumble, trip, and limp our way through our mistakes. I think one of the greatest examples there ever was, was our Savior, Redeemer, and Brother Jesus Christ. He did not act like He was above us when He came to live this life just as we did. He did not act like He was above us when He was born in a lowly stall. He did not act like He was above us when he learned hard work. Nor did He act like He was above us when He too, was baptized. He did not act like He was above us as He served the sick. He certainly did not act like He was above us as he suffered for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane. And He surely did not act like He was above us when he suffered on the cross because it would fulfill all He came to do on this earth. He didn't act like he was above us in any way. He is our brother, our advocate, and the one we can most certainly count on for when we make mistakes. After all, He PERFECTLY understands because He was the one who suffered for each of our transgressions. He knows. We're not alone.
"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them."
-Ether 12:27
Friends, we must take the weaknesses (mistakes) in our lives, and let them change us for the better. Surely it's hard in the moment, but it makes a world of difference knowing that through this tiny moment of grief, GREAT things are in store.
Mistakes are proof that you are trying.
I've tried this thing where you color this fantastic quote pages from Doodle Art Alley and they include scripture quotes, inspirational quotes, or even some funny ones. Then I find a coordinating scripture or talk, and send it off to a missionary or someone I feel needs it. It's a great way for me to be able to color, and study a topic, and also to try and help someone. It's great! (A special thanks to Sister Bateman for reminding me the site exists and that coloring is fun--go girls camp!)
Anyways, my point is when trying to do something for others, I think we forget ourselves to include us in it. I was having an exceptionally rough day when I crossed this lovely picture I remember sending off to my brother a few years back.
We're going to stumble, we're going to fall. We might even face plant it. But as long as we're doing the best we can, and making mistakes along the way, then we're trying. We're going. We're doing good.
Mistakes are unfortunately a part of life. But it's best not to dwell on them. It's time to become a better person because of it. And it certainly can be done. Friends, I have faith in you and so does your Father in Heaven and brother Jesus Christ.
Keep going, keep mistaking.
