I don't think many can say at all that they were able to go to Taiwan with their dad. And have it paid for by their dad's cool boss because he got married. And see an Asian wedding. So thanks Cooper and Ellie for getting married and letting us experience it! And thanks dad for tolerating me for 6 nonstop days.
Here he is. The coolest pops ever.
But first, let us take a moment to remember Squanto. Poor guy froze to death in our driveway. May he rest in peace in bird heaven.
You all can see my snapchat adventure pictures too. :) You're welcome. ;)
Aaaannnnndd Asian airports and the beauteous art they have. Yes, that is a head. Yes, just a head.
11 hour flights. I can't odd. (I can't even since I'm not a white girl...)
Airplane food...not as bad as you would think. Long flights...as bad as you would think.
Booyah food!
I'm a fan of all things pesto. Pesto sandwiches lie high on that list.
Tempura and miso soup. Delish!
Art in Taiwan. Maybe I'll get my kids this someday for their rooms. #favoritemomaward
They have 7-Elevens all over Taiwan! Crazy, crazy stuff man.
Bullet train. There's a reason it's referred to as such. Also, I discovered I'm not a fan of the rush of getting on and off trains. I'll take my time thank you very much.
5 star hotel for the first time! So I took pictures, because unless I marry rich this isn't happening again.
They have BUTTONS for their toilets. You hardly see those here in the U.S.
Cool shower, nice and warm...
Sightseeing day! Jet lag set in, and I may or may not have slept almost every moment in the car...
I just don't really know...so I took a picture!
Gorgeous.
I can see the temple from here!
Wedding!
I thought it was a cool different to see Angel Moroni on a different pillar beside the temple. Still, nonetheless just as awesome.
Snappychat.
The view from the visitors center.
Absolutely lovely.
So this is a wall. I'm not really sure what it's for but it was huge and pretty!
Pano.
And some temple I think. I'm terrible and remembering and I apologize, but it was beautiful and had very intricate designs at the tops by the roof.
Asian telephone booth. And yes, I did get weird looks from a man while taking this picture. It's pretty funny to see their faces when an Asian like them is acting like a foreigner.
A sign. I can't completely remember why I took it so here.
Basically the coolest bendy straw ever.
And a baseball and bat for all you baseball peeps.
Taipei 101. 101 floors. 98 more floors than I'm comfortable with. Adventure is out there.
Holy dang. That elevator was fast! Possibly more fast than any elevator I've ever been on. Less than a minute to get to the 89th floor I believe. You can feel your ears pop on it! So crazy.
The tallest I have ever felt in my life. I'm not so sure I love the feeling.
Yeah, #noheights #noproblem.
The big ball that balanced out the entire building. Unbelievable. A small elf could live in there.
Night markets! I dig 'em. America should really take note.
My dad is awesome at the shooting games! Even won a small Jenga set.
Food. My first and only love.
So here you can catch your own fish and they cook it for you. Yum.
Winnie, me, and pops! Taken with the one and only #selfiestick. Yes, I was uneasy about getting one, but dad and Winnie convinced me. This will be popular in the U.S.. I mean we've got snuggies, and we really like our selfies.
Breakfast, Asian style. Plus a little Marissa. (Thus the hash browns.)
Elevator selfie with #nomakeupMarissa.
It's good to know my friends still think of me while I'm gone. More importantly, how much I dislike these freaky trolls/dwarves/Satans minions.
Wedding day selfie!
They even got us food for the sweet bus ride.
Bonsai in Asia!
Sun Moon Lake.
Seriously gorgeous.
Because why not take a selfie by the lake?
Wedding time!
Seriously so gorgeous. This picture doesn't even do it justice.
Orchids.
Tree that was basically awesome.
Rehersal!
Mormon bishop speaking at a buddhist wedding. But he did killer. Even the Asians liked his cheesy jokes. ;)
Orchid tree. And yes, everyone did get their picture by it. It was so awesome.
Booyah.
Dad speaking with Smith translating. They were a great together, dad thinks they should form a comedy act.
Happy early Birthday! Just kidding. I wish!
Oh some of these angels were purely awesome.
About as close as I got to seeing Mulan. #itwillhappensomeday
I told you some of them were purely awesome.
12 course dinner. I love food, but I've never been so full of it in my life!
Cooper and Ellie! So cute.
If I had kids that looked like this one day, I wouldn't even be mad. SO flipping adorable.
Elevator selfie, yet again.
Park selfie with the #selfiestick! Such a beautiful park. Even some meditating. That's my people.
Dad insisted that I needed a selfie on the horse. So here ya'll go. I shall name him Chaunco.
Waterfall! I just realized dad is blinking in this one. Hehe.
Taiwanese fried chicken. SOOOO GOOD!!!
Night markets. The only form of shopping I enjoy. Seriously America, take note.
My mouth is watering thinking about that Taiwanese fried chicken. Delish.
So it's custom to wear a mask when you're sick. And of course with the luck I've got, I got a cold with my lack of sleep. Therefore, mask.
The rocking bag I got at the night market. I don't enjoy carrying bags around, but this one is killer.
Of course dad had to attract all the birds to us by giving them food...
I goat even know.
Tennis-Asian style.
Mos Burger, a fantastic burger where the patty is made out of rice...get with it America.
I can sleep anywhere...even on those round chairs! I told you Chris.
I was tired at this point of breathing in and out my own air...but this was good for hiding my nose. Rudolph got nothin on me.
Seriously. Can my children be exact replicas of these kids?
Boom. Small Asian children flashing that peace sign. It's like an immediate thing I tell ya.
Hey mom! ;)
Homeward bound! I felt like a doctor.
Bye bye Taiwan. So sad to say goodbye.
Now I will grace you with some gorgeous airplane pictures because I can.
"It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!"
Lovely view.
Back home, and look at our welcome crew! Just kidding, but I'm sure part of them was happy we were home!
But that will be Adam coming down in 11 DAYS!!! AHHH! I seriously can't even contain myself.
Showing off the selfie stick to mom!
And Kari and Kaz!
I missed this tiny Asian a lot.
Jen Bricker assembly! See that line behind us to take a picture with her? Yeah, no. So we decided to take advantage of the selfie stick. Jen is back behind somewhere...
And I had to post all these photos just because they are all funny in their own special way.
I missed these crazies.
And now begins the point where Chris tried to take the selfie stick from me.
How dare he.
And a small group of people who were laughing at us because of the awesome selfie stick. #payback
Poor girl has been sick on top of her asthma. So breathing treatments it is. She's such a brave girl! She even talked to me when the treatment was going. #talkingtwos
Sometimes if you make Kaz into a tight taco, it keeps her still for two whole seconds.
Cheesy smile.
"Me too!" -Micah
So surprisingly, I got asked to prom! Thanks Alex! I'm excited!
The solution to keep the busy girl contained. She HATES those socks monkeys. I don't blame her, they are freaky. But they do keep her in one room. :)
"What you lookin' at?"
Missed this girl.
#tallpeopleproblems.
That's why we shove the guys in the back. Also, because I WILL get shotgun.
Basically some things I learned:
-International flights are so long.
-The time change sure messes up my brain and body.
-The jet lag struggle is real.
-Taiwan is beautiful.
-Asian weddings are so pretty.
-I'm now in love with orchids.
-I ain't about that 12 course life.
-I've never been so full in my life.
-A bad time for you to not have much of an appetite or always be full is when in Taiwan.
-You truly do fall in love with the people not so much the place, just like return missionaries say.
-My eyes are still smaller than like half the people in Taiwan.
-I had a great time learning more about my dad. He's a great guy.
~Oh man. Taiwan was absolutely gorgeous and such an AMAZING experience. I can't even narrow down my favorite part. It's quite funny, I'm Asian and was surrounded by my own people but I have never felt so out of place. Maybe it was because I don't speak a lick of Chinese, but I have a feeling it was also because I'm a Latter-Day Saint. It was a good different. The trip to Taiwan can't even be explained into words really, it was just the Most Epic Daddy-Daughter Date Ever! Most definiately Full of Smiles.~
